December 2025

Laurel Statz is a painter and Madison area native. Her work, while figurative, is influenced by abstraction and minimalism. The paintings often have a quick and instinctual nature, capturing just what’s needed. While she often times herself to eliminate extra details and over-precision, she has ventured into more detailed works as well. Laurel does not attach narrative to her pieces. Rather, she thinks of them like a journaling process for her scatter-brained psyche. The figures in the pieces are meant to be processing tools for the artist and the viewer. She hopes that seeing these figures helps the...

A special show out of the blue...

In Ivan's own words: "Howdy everybody... It's been a while! How're y'all doing? For the past couple of years I've been living abroad, producing and playing on other people's records (in a small potatoes kinda way) as my day job. Of course in my free time, I've continued writing and recording plenty of my own new tunes, some of which should see proper release any decade now...

Anyhow, I'm back here in my hometown for a little visit, hanging out with my grandma, my brother, my friends, watching the leaves change colors, all that good stuff. It's really nice to be back. I stopped by good old Mother Fool's the other day to say hello, and Jon asked if I'd like to play a show there while I was in town. Well... Sure! It's been a good 3 or 4 years since I last played in Madison, so I'd say it's about time. I have lots of fun ideas for this intimate and unexpected appearance, and it'll be a cool chance to share some of the several dozen new songs I've cooked up since I kind of fell off the local map. Including such titles as: NUMBER ONE FOOL, SWEET ORANGE, I'M ALMOST THERE, ORIGINAL OWNER, COUNTRY GIRL, PURPLE NIGHT, SNOW ANGEL, ACROSS THE SEA, MY LITTLE SONGBIRD, RADIO KEEP ME COMPANY, GOOD SPORT, LATE BLOOMER, OVER & OVER, TWO FRIENDS, STUPID THINGS, THIS IS THE LIFE, GIRLS IN THIS GARDEN, LET'S GO HOME, AURORA, PENNILESS PRINCESS, I WANTED TO CALL OUT, BABY I'M YOUR BROTHER, and so many more... I've been getting really into performing without the use of electricity lately, so I think we'll be rolling like that. Drawing has become a big thing for me again as well, so I'll also have a bunch of doodles from my most recent adventures available for your viewing at the show... Hope to see you there!"
