December 2025

Laurel Statz is a painter and Madison area native. Her work, while figurative, is influenced by abstraction and minimalism. Mother Fool-s will ring with the vintage sounds of -20s and -30s Jazz and Western Swing as Safety Last! takes the stage. Featuring Garreth Paul-s warm and bluesy vocals, the gypsy twang of Chris Ruppenthal-s guitar, Gregorio Montero-s ingenious fiddling, and Mike Steen-s rock-steady bass, the band will transport you to another place and time - one that exists only in the moment.

Where Safety Last! plays, Bob Wills hollers and stomps while Django Reinhardt smirks and sneers through his cigarette-s blue smoke, a flapper-s dance steps are accented by the sound of cowboy boots shuffling across the floor, cotton fields wave in the warm evening breeze off the French Riviera, and you smile and tap your foot to the steady groove of classic swing with a Southern twist.

Safety Last! is a 4-piece acoustic ensemble, performing -Sophisticated Western Swing & Old-School Jazz.-
