subvocal, led by singer songwriter Mark Adkins, is an ambient psychedelic, folk noir, band. The band, consisting of Stephen Pingry on cello and Mark Adkins, guitar and vocals are based in Madison, Wisconsin. The duo has been performing together as subvocal for ten years. They are a multi Madison Area Music Award, winning-band and have opened for National and International acts. subvocal plays dark, moody, compelling songs both emotive and thoughtful with some political bent.

The songs are heavily layered with delays, reverbs and some sampling. Pat Pattison, music writer, performer and Instructor at Berkeley School of Music, says ...\"Mark is compelling performer. He sets a tone and mood with his playing that sweeps everyone up in it.\"

Brian Daly is a performer, songwriter, and sound designer. When performing solo on voice and acoustic guitar he brings these traditional sounds to songs which are catchy but unconventional. Rooted more in indie guitar rock than strummy singer/songwriter pop, Daly\'s songs explore themes of split reality, altered states, love gone right/wrong, and the transcendence of boredom. Coupling overt emotionalism with cerebral detachment is a favored compositional motif. Daly\'s experience as the leader of the rock band Sunshine for the Blind and his skills as a studio engineer are put to use in his solo act with the use well integrated sound treatments that enhance the mood of the songs.
