"The Spectator"

December 2025

Laurel Statz is a painter and Madison area native. Her work, while figurative, is influenced by abstraction and minimalism. The paintings often have a quick and instinctual nature, capturing just what’s needed. While she often times herself to eliminate extra details and over-precision, she has ventured into more detailed works as well. Laurel does not attach narrative to her pieces. Camela pronounced like "Pamela", a native of Wisconsin plays a blend of folk, rock & rhythm with a mystical twist. The obvious care she takes in crafting songs that feel both familiar & fresh, with themes that are imaginative & honest marks her as a talent that has ascended above the norm. If it's true that great songs can feel like old friends, then Kraemer's selections blending folk and rock, layering catchy melodies with hopeful, evocative lyrics, will leave listeners nostalgic & revived.

The Women's Radio Network named Camela as "Hot Up & Comer of 2010".

"Oh, her voice! It's like bubblegum one moment and then offers a glint of rasp the next, & all the while oh-so-captivating! An accomplished touring songwriter, with room to boast, having already added performances at several UK and US Festivals as notches to her bedpost. All the while, she maintains a humble and appreciated demeanor, often saturating intimate settings such as Coffeeshops and Songwriter Circles with her electrically-charged personality and gift of acoustic song."

Camela returns to the region she calls home for only 3 weeks this summer, Mother Fool's is her only stop in Madison. Don't miss this show!
