Aniv de la Rev - $5
Aniv de la Rev, Madison's premier punk/cumbia/rock band since 2003, will be performing for the last time at Mother Fool's Coffeehouse on Friday April 9th at 8PM. We hope that friends and fans will join us for this farewell gig!
The band is breaking up in amicable fashion. In fact in coming months look for an offshoot called Los Colgados (comprised by David and Martin Alvarado and Kent Craig) doing some Aniv de la Rev songs along with Spanish-language versions of Clash tunes! Jim Goronson continues on with the retro-punk outfit the Seven Stone Weaklings and hopes to start an originals-based rock band later this year. Peter Hart-Brinson is leaving Madison in coming months to pursue his career in revolutionary academia.
We are grateful for the support we have received from folks who have attended our gigs and bought our CDs. We are also grateful for the coverage we have received from the Madison media and airplay on local radio stations--particularly WORT Community Radio.
We also appreciate the opportunity to play at several local venues--particularly the High Noon Saloon, Crystal Corner Bar, the Frequency, Glass Nickel Pizza, Mickey's Tavern, and Mother Fool's.
In 2007 our song "El Dishwashero" (the epitome of our punk/cumbia experimentation) was selected to be on the Madison Made Music Project compilation CD--sales of which benefited Porchlight, Inc. and the Community Action Coalition for South Central Wisconsin.
In September 2008 we released our self-produced debut album. Much thanks to former drummer Kenn Busch for his heroic engineering efforts to get it done. The album was nominated for best "Unique" album of 2008 in the MAMAs last year.
Come join us on April 9th at 8PM for a Friday night acoustic punk/cumbia farewell party at Mother Fool's! Cover is five bucks.
