Laurel Statz is a painter and Madison area native. Her work, while figurative, is influenced by abstraction and minimalism. The paintings often have a quick and instinctual nature, capturing just what’s needed. While she often times herself to eliminate extra details and over-precision, she has ventured into more detailed works as well. Laurel does not attach narrative to her pieces. Rather, she thinks of them like a journaling process for her scatter-brained psyche. The figures in the pieces are meant to be processing tools for the artist and the viewer. This special Nob Hill Boys\' show will introduce guitarist Lonnie Meeker. He is a very hot flat picking guitar player and former band member of Bill Monroe\'s Bluegrass Boys and a former member of Alison Krauss and Union Station. Mark Hembree is also a part of the the new band. He is the current Nob bass man, although he\'s not played at Mother Fools. Mark is also a Bill Monroe veteran and fromer member of Nashville Bluegrass Band and Nashville session bass player. Other than that its John Fabke, Paul Kienitz on fiddle and Jon Peik on banjo as per usual.
