Laurel Statz is a painter and Madison area native. Her work, while figurative, is influenced by abstraction and minimalism. The paintings often have a quick and instinctual nature, capturing just what’s needed. While she often times herself to eliminate extra details and over-precision, she has ventured into more detailed works as well. Laurel does not attach narrative to her pieces. Rather, she thinks of them like a journaling process for her scatter-brained psyche. The figures in the pieces are meant to be processing tools for the artist and the viewer. Al Rose is a striking songwriter and musician with a unique and powerful vision that continues to jell and focus on his 4th and latest release (in January 2003), “Gravity Of Crow”. His previous albums have received extensive airplay on AAA and Americana stations throughout the US along with a bevy of critical praise. He is a mesmerizing transformer when performing live. This drives the songs each night, but the songs have always been what drives the music in what The Chicago Tribune has called “one audaciously entertaining ride”.
