Landscapes – Oil on Canvas
My inspiration as an artist comes from many places. I started painting when I was young with my mother, Charlotte Fung Miller, who is trained in classical Chinese Brush Painting. My style started with contemporary brush paintings of mountains, landscapes and nature. I was also always inspired by Western and European landscape artists, and my style became a mixture of Chinese brush painting and Western landscape art, transitioning from watercolor to acrylic and finally to oil.
My current style is painting landscapes with oil on canvas, based on scenes from Wisconsin and around the country, using vibrant natural colors, light and various techniques to create the compositions. My subjects vary from fields and farms, rivers, mountains and ocean scenes, with emphasis on the interaction of light with the natural surroundings.
I am constantly exploring my style to interpret the natural landscapes I see, with my work representing my own impressions.
