Goongoo Peas is a group of women musicians who play folk music from Jamaican, African and African American traditions. Their high energy music is wise, funny and authentic. Two and three part vocal harmonies are enhanced by drums and other percussion instruments. They have been playing for Wisconsin audiences for over fifteen years and adults and children alike have enjoyed Googoo Peas\'s music at neighborhood festivals, at the Overture Center, at school performances and, of course, at Mother Fool\'s.

Rose Onama, a native of Uganda and long time Madison resident, was a founding member of Goongoo Peas. Rose is a talented dancer, storyteller and musician. She currently resides in Milwaukee where she has worked in theater and in the schools. Rose was making a remarkable recovery from a debilitating stroke when she was diagnosed with cancer last spring. This benefit is helping to raise money for her care during recovery.
