"Permutations of Red Pine"

September 2026

A Red Pine tree was planted at the corner of 212 Merry Street in the late 60s that evolved over the decades into a cooperative household. We are making it a place for comity and creativity; Clarity and the imagination; we change detritus of early 21st century late stage capitalism into art, shrine, paintings, music, sculptures, urban Permaculture and homesteading experiments. We appreciate the used, the worn out, ever crumbling and reassembling; as we all are all the time.

Venice Gas House Trolley is a Madison, WI "Beat Freak" music driven poetry ensemble inspired by the "Holy Barbarians" of the Venice West CA Beat Scene. However simply to label what they do as traditional 'Beat'- would be to miss the mark. The band initially hearkens back to the time when hipsters and cool-cats would chill out in jazzy coffeehouses digging ecstatic poets and musicians and then explodes through the present and into the future with vocal effects, driving bass, and tight rhythms. The group's sound and content runs the gamut from ambient chill groovy funk to aggressive garage to high and lonesome country to avant-garde jazz. to ambient chill. This is the next step in the spoken word revolution happening right now.

The line-up for this intimate Mother Fool's performance will feature two-time Madison Area Music Award Best Artist finalist Adam Gregory Pergament [voice, vocal effects, loops] and Kevin Arthur Knapp, who holds a degree in Music Composition from UW-Madison and plays with Jazz legend Richard Davis' Black Music Ensemble on electric bass and loops.

Enemy Lines Music Ensemble is a group of Madison-based musicians interested in exploring the interaction between composition, improvisation and everything else.
