Laurel Statz

"The Spectator"

December 2025

Laurel Statz is a painter and Madison area native. Her work, while figurative, is influenced by abstraction and minimalism. Biff U. Blumfumgagnge (Gomers, Reptile Palace Orchestra, Jambeau, Yammer, Headpump, etc.) presents "An Evening of BIFFSCAPES:" music made with an electric mandolin, violin, a few synths and some midi trickery... Think Keller Williams on Uranus, or maybe a Fripp/Eno soundscape crossed with a one-man-bourbon street band. This is a rare and unique one-time show with interactive elements. A question / answer / demonstration of how it all works at the end of the concert is also promised.

There's a special guest online as well.

It's Blumfumgagnge's first solo show in Madison about 10 years. He recently returned from Japan & Mexico with the Adrian Belew Power Trio, and will be touring w. Robert Fripp & The League of Crafty Guitarists again at the end of October through mid-November (playing the Majestic in Madison on Nov 10).
