Ritt Deitz w/ Aaron Nathans

Saturday, September 15, 2007

Ritt's songs are rough and smooth at the same time, acoustic roots rock with just enough mountain music in it to remind you he is from Kentucky. He's leaving his band at home this time for a rare solo show.

Aaron Nathans is famous for writing songs about nothing. And yet, they're clearly about something. This former Madisonian (now living in Wilmington, Delaware) picks small things to write songs about, like grapefruit, squirrels and politicians. He deftly evokes a sense of place, balancing emotion with a wicked sense of humor.
