Steev Baker's Inkwell Collective w/ Amelia Royko

Saturday, November 27, 2004

Steev Baker's Inkwell Collective spans urban folk, alternative country, acoustic indie, bedroom pop--there are a number of ways to describe the songs Steev Baker writes, none of them completely adequate or accurate. Cram yourself in between the tired angst of Nirvana's unplugged album and the barely-controlled orchestration of Jeremy Enigk's "return of the frog queen" and you'll find Steev waiting for you, already tuning his guitar and shaking from too much caffeine. Steev writes literary music and is often accompanied by cello, banjo, and other instruments.

Amelia Royko is one of Madison's finest! She straddles the line between folk and rock and is a darn good songwriter to boot.
