"Permutations of Red Pine"

September 2026

A Red Pine tree was planted at the corner of 212 Merry Street in the late 60s that evolved over the decades into a cooperative household. We are making it a place for comity and creativity; Clarity and the imagination; we change detritus of early 21st century late stage capitalism into art, shrine, paintings, music, sculptures, urban Permaculture and homesteading experiments. We appreciate the used, the worn out, ever crumbling and reassembling; as we all are all the time.

Detroit native Ryan Mackstaller, heralded as \"one of the most progressive and broad-minded\" guitarists around, brings his new stunning avant jazz-rock trio, JusThis to Mother Fool\'s. Anchored by bari saxophonist Dan Bennett and drummer Tim Brown, the three have a sound that immediately brings to mind the band Morphine musically turned up on its head. Incorporating elements of group improv and carnivalesque theatrics, JusThis regularly performs an original suite based on music icon Tom Waits, a work which jazz critic Mark Stryker declares, \"the title is enough to make me want to be there when it goes down.\"
