Artist Liz Roth will paint a portrait every hour for 24 hours. Sign-up in the cafe starting April 22 and the painting starts Monday at 11 pm.

Liz Roth is a painter/printmaker who depicts social concerns in a humorous way - whether it\'s about co-workers functioning as a reluctant substitute family in the US (Cheeseburger Soup, a series about Madison Department of Transportation workers), or how Americans perceive the relationship between beauty and weight (she completed a nude self-portrait-a-day project for six months). She was invited to Japan in the Fall to create funny and sharp art installations and public art works dealing with environmental issues. She turns her brush towards her favorite cafe, and hopes to memorialize a cross section of Mother Fool\'s patrons for posterity.

Liz holds an MFA from UW-Madison, and has plenty of awards and grants to show for her years as a starving artist, including a 2001 Wisconsin Arts Board Individual Artists Fellowship. Her works have been acquired by many national and international collections, including the Walker Museum of Art, the Museu del Joguet in Spain, the Museum of Awa Japanese Paper, and the KAIR Contemporary Art Collection.
