We are self-taught artists who create work inspired by healing, nature, travel, and personal experiences. Performing as a duo, The Redbirds is a new venture for John Fabke and Paul Kienitz, mainstays of Madison\'s popular bluegrass band, the Nob Hill Boys. The venture was started with an idea of being able to play small venues and create an open \"air\" in which to present the music to the audience. Stripped to the bare essentials, The Redbirds\' recipe is simple, mix traditional tunes and songs drawn from American \"roots\" music (old-time, early-country and bluegrass styles) and mash vigorously through their \"Redbird\" filter. By constantly investigating different styles in the genre, The Redbirds\' keep the creativity in the music alive, incorporating the feel and emotion of the music into a personal expression. Paul Kienitz welcomes this opportunity to share his passion and respect for traditional fiddle styles and repertoire he has absorbed over 20 years. John Fabke contributes his unique and \"powerful high\" vocals and multi-instrumentalist talents (guitar, banjo, mandolin) to the mix.
