December 2025

Laurel Statz is a painter and Madison area native. Her work, while figurative, is influenced by abstraction and minimalism. No Earth Duo:
Jennifer Pendur - Bass
JoAnne Powers - Saxophones, etc.

Occasionally punctuating high-energy free jazz and exploratory improvisations with Arabic maqams and Hindustani ragas, No Earth Trio has, in the words of one listener, \"a palpable, infectious energy that\'s a pleasure to be around.\" The group, consisting of the infamous Lyx Ish on drums and percussion, bassist Jennifer Pendur, and saxophone terrorist JoAnne Powers, plays spontaneous compositions and collective improvisations characterized by densely intricate communication and undeniable acoustic chemistry. The result is a visceral and cathartic music, tightly woven from the diverse approaches of the participants. With women severely underrepresented in the world of free jazz, No Earth Trio\'s powerhouse lineup is a call-to-action for the avant-garde.

This will be a benefit show to help raise money for medical expenses for No Earth Trio drummer, Lyx Ish.

Paul Baker will be joining the Pendur and Powers for this special show.
