Laurel Statz is a painter and Madison area native. Her work, while figurative, is influenced by abstraction and minimalism. The paintings often have a quick and instinctual nature, capturing just what’s needed. While she often times herself to eliminate extra details and over-precision, she has ventured into more detailed works as well. Laurel does not attach narrative to her pieces. Rather, she thinks of them like a journaling process for her scatter-brained psyche. The figures in the pieces are meant to be processing tools for the artist and the viewer. Stephanie Rearick will play a Bowie-themed show along with Cat Capellaro, Andrew Rohn, Matthew Sanborn and Joey Zarda opening with a set - as the Rohnellaros and the Spiders From Mars.

Says Stephanie, "David Bowie has always been my artistic hero and I've played a bunch of his songs over the years, his versions of other people's songs (my recordings of Wild is the Wind and Across the Universe). And I have several songs of my own that quote or are directly influenced by him (well I suppose you could say all of them are). So, this is how I'm paying my respects."
