Laurel Statz is a painter and Madison area native. Her work, while figurative, is influenced by abstraction and minimalism. The paintings often have a quick and instinctual nature, capturing just what’s needed. While she often times herself to eliminate extra details and over-precision, she has ventured into more detailed works as well. Laurel does not attach narrative to her pieces. \"Double Wide Mud Slide\" is a Rockin\' Honky Tonk Country band formed by members of the local Madison groups \"The Blowtorches\" & \"Huffin\" Glue\" along with guitarist A.J. Love.

Playing the music of artists such as Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams Sr, Buck Owens, and Johnny Cash along with some originals, \"Double Wide Mud Slide\" rocks and careens but is never driven off the road.
