Artist Statement Tamara Lea Kaufman’s personal artwork ranges from serious to quirky, dark, adult-themed humor. She creates multimedia assemblage, collage, and dioramas made from HO-scale railroad hobby miniatures, preserved insects, paint, embroidery, found objects, and typically discarded materials such as candy wrappers and the overlooked debris of everyday life. Her work explores topics of consumption, waste, desire, relationships, psychology, politics, societal pressures and the levity of humor needed to survive it all. Emily Rose is a songwriter and singer from Detroit, Michigan. Her music has been described as rebellious soul-folk, gutsy and emotionally provocative. She belts lullabies about consumerism and grooves inside existential anxiety, finding inspiration from both inward and outward explorations. In 2009 and 2010, Emily was recognized for her songwriting by receiving the award for -Outstanding Acoustic Songwriter- at the Detroit Music Awards. Her new album Porchlight Tragical will be traveling by her side on a solo summer tour of the West in the summer of 2011.
