Laurel Statz is a painter and Madison area native. Her work, while figurative, is influenced by abstraction and minimalism. The paintings often have a quick and instinctual nature, capturing just what’s needed. While she often times herself to eliminate extra details and over-precision, she has ventured into more detailed works as well. Laurel does not attach narrative to her pieces. Rather, she thinks of them like a journaling process for her scatter-brained psyche. The figures in the pieces are meant to be processing tools for the artist and the viewer. Greg Novak is an independent musician from Madison, Wisconsin. His focus is positive songwriting expressed through ambient, lo-fi, folk tunes. His influences range from Bob Dylan, the Clientele, Neil Young, Beck, Travis, Townes Van Zandt, and the Beatles. Since the age of 8 he's been playing drums and began playing guitar and writing songs around age 16. Since 2005 there have been two solo releases under a different pseudonym, Francis Dav Fem, but due to simplicity he now goes by his real name. Also, he has played drums and guitar on 3 Winterleaves (Brandon Winterle) albums and plays drums, guitar and bass with Zimri's Black Box (Michael Quilling). With those two members he originally started a band called, Gemmenneer, but disbanded in 2006. Currently, Greg is working in a new 60's tinged, melodi-hop band called, Peel a Peel, alternating with Brandon Winterle on drums and guitar along with backing vocals with lead vocalist/lyricists, Jon Christman.
