Laurel Statz is a painter and Madison area native. Her work, while figurative, is influenced by abstraction and minimalism. The Tomek Miernowski Trio is a jazz group comprised of three Madison natives, now all working musicians all around the country. Miernowski is an accomplished musician and recording engineer, and has played the Kennedy Center, Monterey Jazz Festival, the Detroit International Jazz Festival, and has worked with such artists as Grammy winner Alberto Rojo, and jazz bassist Robert Hurst. Bass player Paul Kowert will be coming to Madison fresh off of a national tour with Chris Thile's group, the Punch Brothers. Kowert has established himself as an in demand bass player, and as he finishes his education at Curtis Institute of Music, is already touring and recording worldwide. Drummer Dave Scalia is an accomplished drummer currently based out of the Indianapolis area, with a busy regular schedule reaching from St. Louis to Chicago. With the oldest member being only 22 years old, this group is a collection of fresh young talent, sure to bring new sounds.

This event marks a once-in-many-years event of all three members being back in Madison. With the last major concert being a spot at Jazz at Five while still in high school, this event is sure to showcase new music, sounds, ideas, and interactions.
