Laurel Statz is a painter and Madison area native. Her work, while figurative, is influenced by abstraction and minimalism. The paintings often have a quick and instinctual nature, capturing just what’s needed. While she often times herself to eliminate extra details and over-precision, she has ventured into more detailed works as well. Laurel does not attach narrative to her pieces. Rather, she thinks of them like a journaling process for her scatter-brained psyche. The figures in the pieces are meant to be processing tools for the artist and the viewer. Jazz draws another breath!

Executive Tea Set is the latest collaboration between Michael Brenneis and Geoff Brady, who have previously appeared in the guise of Tomato Box and The Active Percussion Duo. ETS is also the latest collaboration between Mark Siegenthaler and Brad Townsend, who themselves are 2/3rds of Arp Of The Covenant. It's all so collaborative!

ETS quickly escalated from a classic jazz repertory band, as the group assembled a respectable pile of original compositions. Mixing the group's original works with those of some of the best jazz composers from the last 60 years makes for an eclectic, groovy, swinging show. Not to be missed.
