"Permutations of Red Pine"

September 2026

A Red Pine tree was planted at the corner of 212 Merry Street in the late 60s that evolved over the decades into a cooperative household. We are making it a place for comity and creativity; Clarity and the imagination; we change detritus of early 21st century late stage capitalism into art, shrine, paintings, music, sculptures, urban Permaculture and homesteading experiments. We appreciate the used, the worn out, ever crumbling and reassembling; as we all are all the time.

Ritt's songs are rough and smooth at the same time, acoustic roots rock with just enough mountain music in it to remind you he is from Kentucky. He is joined by his trio, musicians he has played, recorded, and consorted with over the last fifteen years.

A Madison Native, Doug Pahl was born to a tire store owner and a financial director. He picked up a guitar when he was nine years old and never tired of it. About his own music, Doug says, "Nowadays, call it whatever you want, I play Indiefolkishpop. Some influences for the music I perform are The Decemberists, Andrew Bird, Tom Waits, and some I can---t figure out. I---m sure someone from a magazine could describe it better than I can."
