Laurel Statz is a painter and Madison area native. Her work, while figurative, is influenced by abstraction and minimalism. The paintings often have a quick and instinctual nature, capturing just what’s needed. While she often times herself to eliminate extra details and over-precision, she has ventured into more detailed works as well. Laurel does not attach narrative to her pieces. Rather, she thinks of them like a journaling process for her scatter-brained psyche. The figures in the pieces are meant to be processing tools for the artist and the viewer. Boulder artist Danya River and Texas artist Kristy Kruger are on a two-month 14,000 mile Swing State Tour, hitting 15 battleground states for the upcoming presidential election, performing and offering voter registration.

Texas singer/songwriter Kristy Kruger has been touring the US indepdently for over six years. She recently released her third CD, \"An Unauthorized Guide to the Human Anatomy,\" an elaborate anatomical concept album, that pairs each song with a part of the human anatomy. Recorded in New Orleans with Dave Pirner (of Soul Asylum) and co-produced by Andrew \"Goat\" Gilchrist (modern folk artist Ani DiFranco?s long-time studio and live engineer), the progressive pop/rock album was just nominated for Best Singer/Songwriter Album of the Year by the Just Plain Folks International Independent Music Awards. Fans of Aimee Mann, Ani DiFranco, and Juliana Hatfield will appreciate Kruger\'s lyric-driven material.
