Painting has become my first language.

I am a self- taught painter that does not hesitate in his stroke, that explores the accident as a form of communion with the unknown and regularly reflects about the role of art in social justice.

Since childhood and between trades of wood and construction work I have experimented with textures and materials under the mentorship of Guatemalan modern Art painters Mario Garcia and Fernando Ixcamey. My life is marked with signs of social and economic violence and also with legacies of personal and community resilience.

This is the second time I am in Madison, Wisconsin and have grown to feel it as a second home perhaps because just as with the Arts for me, I feel this city as a space where light and darkness, the grotesque and beautiful, love and fear can fusion with each other giving birth to a fuller whole.

Throughout May, Mother Fool’s Coffee house is displaying my series “Cicatrixes from Progress” inspired on the contribution of Latino and other labor communities to the construction and progress of the United States of America, and “Hearts of Solidarity” a series that explores the depth and breadth of human emotions in social struggle.

This exhibition also features pieces from the local batik artist that recently passed away, Kae Taylor. All pieces are for sale with the purpose to fundraise for the Workers’ Right Center and the Latino Workers Project in particular. I will also paint a ‘worker’s rights’ themed mural on the exterior wall of Mother Fool’s Coffee house and you are welcome to join our Art opening next Sunday May 15th from 5-8pm.

Pintar se ha convertido en mi primera lengua.

Soy un pintor autodidacta que no vacila en su trazo, que explora el accidente como una forma de comunión con lo desconocido y que a menudo reflexiona sobre el rol del arte para la justicia social.

Desde mi niñez y entre oficios de ayudante de carpinteria y albañileria he experimentado con materiales y texturas bajo la mentoría de los pintores guatemaltecos de arte moderno, Mario Garcia y Fernando Ixcamey. Mi vida está marcada con signos de violencia social y económica y también con legados de resiliencia personal y comunitaria.

Esta es la segunda vez que estoy en Madison, Wisconsin y he llegado a sentirla como un segundo hogar, tal vez por que así como con el arte, siento esta ciudad como un espacio donde la luz y la sombra, lo grotesco y lo bello, el amor y el miedo se pueden fundir para dar nacimiento a un todo más pleno

A lo largo de mayo, Mother Fool’s Coffe house esta exhibiendo mis series “Cicatrices del Progreso” inspirada en la contribución de la mano de obra Latina y de otras comunidades trabajadoras a la construcción y progreso de los Estados Unidos de América., y “Corazones de Solidaridad” serie que explora la profundidad y alcance de las emociones humanas en la lucha social. Esta exposición es compartida con el piezas de la artista local de batik recientemente fallecida, Kae Taylor. Todas las piezas están a la venta con el próposito de recaudar fondos para el Centro de Derechos de los Trabajadores (WRC) y en particular para el Proyecto de Derechos de Trabajadores Latinos. Además pintaré un mural en el muro exterior de Mother Fool’s Coffee house y están bienvenidos a acompañarnos en la Exhibición de Arte este próximo Domingp 15 de Mayo de 5-8pm en este café.
