Steve Dwyer - July 2006

BIO:
My name is Steve Dwyer. I was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin.
Oil Paintings By Dwyer was an idea I came up with some time ago. I wanted to create oil paintings that are friendly to anyone's home.
I am most influenced by the style of Impressionism. Artists such as Van Gogh and Cezanne are a couple of artists, among many, that influence my painting style. I am most interested in painting still lifes and portraits. Whether I paint an arrangement of flowers or a mug with fruit, I try to show color, and light, and to depict a composition that keeps the viewer interested. I also paint portraits. The artist that most influences my portrait paintings is Max Beckmann. I like to paint my figures with an expressive feeling.
In 1990 I studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for a year. During that time I was able to view and research some of the world's greatest paintings. I transferred to UW-Madison in 1991, and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1994. Since then I have been employed in the computer graphics (pre-press) department at a local company, American Printing Co. Inc.
I have been showing my paintings in area art shows and businesses for the past several years.
Thank you for viewing my paintings, and I hope you enjoy them.
Steve Dwyer
