David Yorde - January 2004

"I began creating art and music in the third grade. In middle school, I participated in the core group, a group of students chosen to work with a professional artist on an installation piece, Refuge. Art classes dominated most of my high school career.
Then I began travelling: to the Pacific Northwest , the Southwest, and then to the Slovak Republic in 1993 and 1994. After returning to my hometown of Athens, Ohio, I entered and won the Ohio state bead competition in 1995.
I moved to Madison in 1996, where I've been studying and raising my nine-year-old daughter, Naomi. I have shown art at Cafe Zoma, and most recently at Madison Public Library Central. Mother Fool's will be my fifth showing. Thank you for having me."
Artists statement : Propelled by words, birds, keys and half-remembered dreams, "Places I've Been" explores the geography and anatomy of life's mystery.
