Reverence for nature, serenity and peace is the Chinese philosophy that inspires the brush paintings of Charlotte Fung Miller of Mukwonago, Wisconsin.
Mrs. Miller is a native of San Francisco’s Chinatown. She studied 10 years of formal Chinese calligraphy and Chinese brush paintings under Master Lui Sang Wong after 10 years of Chinese school. Following this, she earned a Master’s degree in nutritional science and a bachelor’s degree in bacteriology at the University of California, Berkeley. Landscapes – Oil on Canvas
My inspiration as an artist comes from many places. I started painting when I was young with my mother, Charlotte Fung Miller, who is trained in classical Chinese Brush Painting. My style started with contemporary brush paintings of mountains, landscapes and nature. I was also always inspired by Western and European landscape artists, and my style became a mixture of Chinese brush painting and Western landscape art, transitioning from watercolor to acrylic and finally to oil.
