Energy Consumption
Mother Fool's has a longstanding commitment to reducing our energy usage.
Since we began in 1995, we have installed more efficient heating, windows and refrigeration. We use compact fluorescent and LED lighting wherever possible. We have also made sure to add insulation whenever we have done work that required opening up the walls or ceiling.
We purchase a portion of our power from wind through
Madison Gas and Electric's Wind Power Program. We plan to increase our usage as a percentage by continuing to reduce the amount of electricity we use.
We are also proud to be a EPA Green Power Partner.
Future Plans
- Install 'green' walls and more trellises
- Expand solar electric system to meet more of our lighting needs
- Switch to LED lighting as it becomes available
- Replace freezers with more efficient models.
We are excited to see how much we will save by these and other measures.

| (*) In 2007 our electric usage went up due, in part, to power tools used during our re-roofing project. We also replaced our electric water heater with on-demand gas and added insulation - both of which will affect our total gas usage. |
