Title: Art of John French
Artist: John French
Details:
Artist Statement:
I love creating fantasy art because I can let my imagination run amuck as I transform the environment around me into something familiar yet alien. I love painting landscapes because the world can be an unreal, dream-like place. Often the line between my imagined and 'real' world art is blurred. In my fantasy art, I try to convey very real emotions; there's hatred, love, anger, serenity, fear and courage. When I paint a landscape I try to show the viewer how fantastic and magical our world can be.

Education:
Studied under Thomas Capuccio at Northern Michigan University
Participated in a workshop with Bill Hamilton
Other than that, I'm self taught.

"I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life's realities." -- Theodor Geisel
